AstraZeneca Operations & IS

Global Graduate Associates Programme

I want to lead, not follow

AstraZeneca - one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies - has developed a unique international development program for Graduates and Operations professionals early in their career.

We have opportunities for high-caliber graduates to join our global graduate associates program in a number of key disciplines:  Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Information Services (IS).  It’s a fantastic opportunity for people with the potential and ambition to become our leaders of the future.

Focused on assured, cost-effective, efficient supply of medicines to patients, the Operations organisation is the connection between the development lab and the pharmacy shelf.

Operations is organised into:

  • four regions: Supply Americas; Supply Europe, Middle East and Africa; Supply Asia Pacific and Japan; and Sweden Operations,
  • three global functions: Global External Sourcing; Global Quality; and Global Supply Chain & Strategy
  • three corporate functions: Procurement; Corporate IS and AZ Essentials

Each year, this network supplies over 1 billion packs, with over 9,000 pack variants, and over 24 billion capsules and tablets to patients.

Operations' current global supply network is made up of over 10,000 staff spread across 19 sites in 15 countries

The corporate functions (Procurement, IS and AZ Essentials) provide support not only to Operations but to the whole of AZ and, as such, employees are based at sites and locations right across the AZ network.

What do we offer?

Working in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, or IS, you’ll gain in-depth exposure to a complex area of our business.  The program consists of three placements over the first two years, to include a period of at least 3 months working and living overseas.  Subject to a satisfactory – review at the end of Year 2, you’ll do a 12 month capability consolidation role in Year 3.

Each role carries real influence, not to mention real opportunties to develop your skills and work towards professional qualifications.  The more you learn about how our business operates, the more responsibilities you’ll be given, and the more chances you’ll have to directly influence patient health.

How you’ll develop

As a graduate in our programme you’ll benefit from broad professional training and work experience.  You’ll also be introduced to an extensive network of pharmaceutical professionals, and be given comprehensive understanding of the industry itself.  Moreover, you’ll learn how to navigate in an international and diverse organization, and you’ll be given the opportunity to influence people and projects early on.

A personal mentor

Every graduate is given a mentor from day one of the programme – someone with extensive business experience.  Mentors not only support you in whatever way they can, they also challenge you to get the most out of your role.
